PROBLEMS IN YOUR ATTIC -
YOU ARE ADDING FREON TO YOUR A/C SYSTEM OR
PUMP EVERY YEAR...
This is what I discovered lerking in my attic after
repeated trips of a technician to
my home to install freon in my Rheem heat pump system
every year. The corrosion
and rust around the copper tubing created a leak in
the system. ..
Class action law suits against Rheem has called for
new and improved evaporator
coil designs for home built in 2002 - 2003 with these
units to minimize rusting
and corrosion and increase their overall life...
Read the actual lawsuit in
PDF format - it's a real shame that high quality manufacturing is sacrificed
for profits with little or no regards to consumers. I've got proof (Rheem
- MFD: 08/2003)... Click
The evaporator coils began to fail at the end of year
7 of my home. Huge build-up of rust was
found in the drain tray and drain pipes leading to
the outside drain...
The opposite side of the evaporator coils showed minimal
leakage with little or to no
corrosion around the copper tubing. Some manufactures
recommend replacing the
entire air handler rather than the evaporator coils.
I chose to replace only the
evaporator coil at a cost of around $350. The entire
installation with freon
and supplies was approximately $1,300 + taxes...
