In this Video, Rust
Belt Auto Uses Dorman
800-300 Nylon Fuel Line Repair Kit -
In this video, Rust Belt Auto explains how to repair
a rusted fuel line by cutting out the rusted portion of the steel
line and inserting a plastic fuel line. The fuel lines are connected with
dual function compression fittings that easily connects steel lines to
plastic lines using brass crush sleeves and plastic sleeves. A large
portion of the steel line is salvaged in order to re-use on the vehicle.
While
completing this repair, be careful not to disturb other lines that may
break from rust but are not causing a problem for the vehicle.
The video is an excellent guide for making a complete
repair for leaky lines. Please note that the procedures in this video is
for informational purpose only, and does not represent manufacturer's prescribed
procedure. If you decide to use the information in the video, be
forewarned that you do so at your own risk.
Fuel lines are under pressure from 25 - 40 psi and can
spray fuel on hot exhaust pipes and manifold causing a fire. Always route
fuel lines away from hot manifolds and exhaust pipes, and avoid electrical
sparks. Wear safety goggles when working with high pressure fuel lines.
Always fasten fuel lines securely to the frame of the
vehicle so they do not rub a holes into the steel or plastic lines. This
is a great "how to" video with excellent camera angles for viewing the
entire repair. Read the YouTube comments that gives overall high praises
for this video...
