HOW I FIXED MY WHIRLPOOL ELECTRIC OVEN
SUPER CAPACITY 465
Electric Oven Repair and Oven Sensor Testing....

DANGER - Electrocution Risk!
Some Knowledge of Electricity and Handling Test Equipment Required!

My Whirlpool Electric Oven decided to break-down during the middle of Sunday dinner. I noticed the cornbread taking a longer time to cook. After observing the heating elements for a few minutes, I quickly realized that the oven was not heating. That's when I watched YouTube Video #1 to determine the source of my no heating problem.

About one year ago, I replaced the lower heating element in my stove. Surely, the darn thing hadn't burned out already! Here's what I did to fix the problem...

  • 1st - pull the stove away from the wall and unplugged it
  • 2nd - test the heating elements with an ohmmeter - would you believe that both the upper and lower elements showed continuity - or checked good
At this point, all tests were good so I plugged everything back together and retested it to see if the problem was miraculously fixed. Nope, the oven did the same thing - little heat, then no heat.

During the next step I watched YouTube Video #2  to test the oven's heat sensor. After testing the sensor, everything checked good. I decided to put the oven back together for the second time, however this time I clamped all wire terminals downward with needle nose pliers. The purpose was to verify that all connections were tight. Sure enough, when I put the stove back together, everything worked perfectly.

Problem found: loose connections at the heating elements. Please be warned - pulling the connector terminals apart and then reinstalling them creates excessive resistance especially when the elements are heated.
